the truth is out there

the xfiles is pretty gory, scary and gross. it's jumpy and repetitive and no one ever makes out. scully is cute, she looks like a 90s barbara stanwyck in a pants suit. and mulder, that actor has a great, squarish fbi face. mulder is always, it's aliens! and scully is always, what? but when other agents tease on mulder she sticks up for him. that's nice. so they're based in dc but they travel all over the country investigating cases. in ep 22 or 21 or 23 of the first season, they go to buffalo. i totally remember watching this episode because it might've been around the time i realized that the xfiles probably didn't travel to whatever town they were saying was the setting, they probably just used any nearby town. in the 80s, i believed that the connors were a real family, like i thought all tv was reality tv. anyway, it's pretty silly. so there was this cop who got murdered 9 years ago in chinatown and all of a sudden this 9 year old girl witnesses the strange deaths of his partners, and the reason for that is that she is the reincarnation of him and they are getting revenge using telekinesis or whatever on these other italian cops who murdered the murdered cop because he was gonna snitch on them for stealing money from a drug bust. there's some creepy origami and some not-terrible special effects. i find it all pretty tasteful. and yes, there are a lot of italian people in buffalo but no, buffalo doesn't have a chinatown. i love the xfiles.
