alice in whateverland

Tim Burton didn't really outdo himself this time.

Sometimes Johnny Depp aka the Mad Hatter, who was sorely misused in this movie, had a Scottish accent. I've never read the book. I wonder if that's in there. Helena Bonham Carter just f'd the whole part of the Red Queen up. I can't blame everything about hating her in this movie on the weird, big CGI head, most of it was how unentertainingly bratty she acted. The Alice girl was alright. The NYT reviewer didn't like her, but I liked her. Alan Rickman was the voice of the caterpillar, I could listen to him read the baseball scores, I love him so much. I tend to not think about celebrities in very sexual ways but I have totally had a sex dream about Alan Rickman. I wouldn't say no to another. Anne Hathaway was pretty cute. A kid I grew up with is dating her personal assistant. So that's like four degrees, right?

The story with this movie is that something bad happened in the past-the-rabbit-hole world so Alice has to defeat to Jabberwocky again. It's vague. And, again, I'm unclear if this is an update or in the actual book. No walrus and clam story in this one. I assumed this would be a rehash of the Disney story. Was that so wrong to want? I also loved the live action one that was on PBS when we were kids. I would've taken something like that. Maybe this was like that. My memory is terrible.

The 3D was pretty nice. I like 3D. I like when bugs or butterflies are involved, although fish and fog are nice too. I hate CGI in general. I hated the new Jabberwocky and HBC's head. But I liked the rabbits and the mouse and the caterpillar and the cat.

I'm not sorry I went to the Cinemagic (such a great name for a movie theater, er chain of movie theaters) to see this movie yesterday. It was all part of the lazy Sunday plan. It was really entertaining while I was watching it and now it's entertaining to hate on it in this blog.
